Getting around
BORDER:
The main crossing point between Kenya and Tanzania is at Namanga, which is open 24 hours a day. Other crosses are Lunga Lunga and Taveta. The Ethiopian border post Moyale is becoming increasingly dangerous because of civil strife. The border was closed for a while but has now reopened. To drive vehicles to four wheels, a more adventurous route to the west near Lake Turkana is quite popular. Ask locals for advice before attempting this route. No border on both sides of the border crossing you have to get your visa stamped in Nairobi. Malaba and Busimia are the main messages of Uganda border. At present there land crossings with Somalia and Sudan as it is not safe to cross unless part of a convoy of refugees.
RAIL AND BUS:
Rail Safaris is a safe and reliable public transport. Passenger services from Mombasa to Malaba go through Voi, Nairobi, Nakuru and Eldoret. It is essential to book tickets two to three days in advance. Kenya has a good network of buses and matatus (minibuses) and shared taxis, but no one is quite sure that drivers tend to overload and speed and terrible accidents occur regularly. Where possible, rail travel should be the means of transport. Private 18-seater, buses offer shuttle services connecting Nairobi and Mombasa with Arusha and Moshi in Tanzania, which are more expensive but more comfortable and safer.
AIRPORTS:
Domestic air services operate between major airports:
Jomo Kenyatta International, Nairobi (NBO)
Moi International, Mombasa (MBA)
A number of companies that operate between Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Nanyuki, Malindi, Lamu and the national parks / Reserves of Amboseli, Masai Mara and Samburu.
ROADS:
There are 63,800 km of roads in Kenya, 8863 km of which are paved. The roads are in good condition, but have deteriorated and some stretches are very dangerous. The A104 running from Mombasa to Malaba via Nairobi is a heavy truck route. High speed and unpredictable local driving habits are daily hazards on Kenyan roads. Roads in the north and northeast are mostly dirt roads and the rainy season are only navigable by four-wheel drive vehicles. Your national driving license is accepted, an English translation if necessary. Driving is on the left side of the road. As fuel shortages can occur, it is best to fill their tanks before leaving a major city.

These are very popular and give the visitor the true experience of being close to nature without the inconvenience and discomfort that may be associated with camping outdoors. In cities, hotels cheaper are definitely avoidable. The prices of higher-end hotels vary according to season. Camping is the ideal budget for those who like to "rough it." The tents are spacious enough for two people and have a mesh in each window to keep bugs.

We recommend visitors bring their own sleeping bags. Public campgrounds provide hygienic quality basic bathroom safaris. At reasonable budget camping some parks used semi-permanent campsites offering camping style update facilities such as showers (hot showers available on request) and toilet Flash.

Tribal souvenirs are available, including Maasai beaded jewelry, Kiondo (woven sisal baskets) and natural or decorated calabashes (gourds). Bright sarongs (kangas or kikois) repair portable memories.
